📣 Churches Together in March – Volunteers Needed!
Deputy Chair & Secretary Roles
Over the past few years, Churches Together in March has strengthened our unity and extended our impact across the town. From community outreach at the Christmas market, to fundraising for Christian Aid and times of shared prayer and worship, our partnership has been a quiet but powerful blessing – showing what is possible when the churches of March work together for the good of our community.
This good work depends on people willing to serve in small but significant ways. At our AGM this week, we were unable to appoint a Deputy Chair or Secretary – and without these roles filled, our ability to continue working effectively together is at risk.
We are now inviting volunteers from among the congregational representatives of our member churches to consider stepping into one of these roles.
🌱 Deputy Chair
The Deputy Chair supports the Chair in guiding the ministry of Churches Together.
It is not an automatic pathway to becoming Chair – unless the person feels called to it in future. The role can simply be a supportive, behind‑the‑scenes presence that helps things run smoothly.
Ideal for someone who:
- enjoys teamwork
- has a heart for unity
- wants to help the churches of March flourish
📝 Secretary
The Secretary ensures our meetings and communication stay organised.
Key responsibilities include:
- Taking minutes (we have just three meetings a year)
- Working with the Chair to prepare the agenda
- Circulating papers to committee members
There is also the opportunity – if desired – to help with communications such as the website or Facebook page, or to coordinate these with others.
Ideal for someone who:
- is organised
- enjoys administration
- wants to support unity and shared mission in a practical way
Why It Matters
Churches Together has an important community presence.
Our unity enables things none of us could achieve alone.
But without people willing to serve in these two key supporting roles, the work we’ve built together becomes harder to sustain.
We don’t need experts.
We simply need willing hearts.
If you or someone in your congregation might be interested – or even just wants to find out more – please discuss this with your minister in the first instance. You could then be nominated as your church’s representative at an upcoming AGM or meeting, and be elected at our next meeting in May. More information can also be obtained from Simon Goddard who you can contact by sending a message to info@lovemarch.uk.
Let’s continue to invest in the life of our town, and in each other, through the gift of shared service.
